Despite demands for a boycott, Nigel Farage is allegedly planning to take part in the first I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! challenge.
The politician’s involvement in the reality show has prompted widespread criticism, with celebrities such as Lorraine Kelly and Kathy Burke speaking out.
The former UKIP leader has headed out to Australia, where he will compete in Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly’s bushtucker trials with This Morning’s Josie Gibson, Sam Thompson, and Jamie Lynn Spears.
He’s apparently jumping right into it, with a source stating that he’ll be participating in an initial challenge at Uluru.
The task will reportedly pit Farage against Josie and influencer Nella Rose as the 2,831ft Ayers Rock, as they fight for jungle camp stars.
The insider continued to The Sun: ‘It’s a huge series opener for Monday, bigger and better than ever.
‘A lot of thought went into who was best to pair with Nigel to create the best TV and bosses reckon they’re a magic trio.
‘It’s the huge series opener and with the never seen before out-of-Queensland twist, it’s clear that ITV haven’t come to play this year – it truly is bigger and better than ever.’
This comes after Farage, 59, stated that he believes viewers would vote for him, stating, ‘Given millions detest me, I do anticipate people to vote for me to do trials!’
He went on to explain that he thought he’d been ‘a little bit demonised’ over the years, but that he hoped his presence on the reality show would warm him up a little.
He did, however, admit it was a “gamble.”
‘The idea that somehow the things I represent – mean-spirited, small-minded, nasty, the “little Englander” – all those accusations that have been flung at me over the years just aren’t true.
‘If we can dispel some of those misconceptions, then that will be a good thing too,’ he added.
