Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, a star of Game of Thrones, has said he hasn’t watched the prequel series House of the Dragon yet.
The Danish actor, 52, portrayed Jamie Lannister on the enduring fantasy series from 2011 to 2019.
Jamie, one of the most adored characters, passed away in the penultimate episode when he was killed alongside his twin sister and girlfriend Cersei after they got stuck in a crumbling castle.
Nikolaj hasn’t rushed to watch the sequel despite being one of the few cast members to survive all eight seasons until his demise.
When asked if he had taken the chance to tune in, he responded matter of factly: ‘I have not.’
However, one day he did stumble across the opening credits, which he described as ‘a little strange’.
‘It was the same music, and the title sequence was kind of similar,’ he said.
‘I was like, “Ah, this is too soon. Too soon”,’ he added when speaking to Entertainment Weekly.
However, he did say he intended to see the program, perhaps in a few years.
‘I’ll wait. I’ll give it a couple of seasons, then I can binge watch it and then there’s the whole thing. But I know that so many people love that show, and I’m really happy for them,’ he added.
House of the Dragon depicts the events leading up to the start of House Targaryen’s decline, a deadly war of succession known as the Dance of the Dragons, and is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
It premiered last year and was renewed less than a week later.
Executive producer Sara Hess said in December that the majority of the second season had already been written and that it will consist of eight episodes.
Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon are available to watch on Sky and NOW.
