Penn Badgley was terrified when his kid identified him as serial murderer Joe Goldberg on You.
For the uninitiated, the Gossip Girl actor portrays a psychotic murderer who becomes obsessed with women, locking them in a cage and killing them.
In the newest episode of the Netflix show, Joe goes on a murdering rampage against London’s elite after fleeing the US after poisoning his wife Love (Victoria Pedretti).
Penn has a baby boy with wife Domino Kirke in 2020, so it’s not exactly kid-friendly watching.
On Tuesday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 48-year-old host asked him about parenting and if his son “knows his daddy plays a serial murderer.”
‘There was recently a day when I was doing something sweet with him, on my lap. And then I sat on the remote. You wouldn’t think this, but it goes right to Netflix on the TV, and my face was right on the TV.’
‘And he was like, “Daddy!” while I started to race around because the next thing he was going to see was something really crazy.’
Penn, thankfully, arrived just in time. Phew!
The John Tucker Must Die actor recently said that he encouraged showrunner Sera Gamble to tone down the personal moments for season 4.
But, in an interview with Metro.co.uk, he said that he was ‘nervous’ to ‘even have that talk.’
‘It was not easy. It was easy because of Sera’s response, and I felt relieved. But technically speaking, if I thought I’d had the ability to set that boundary earlier, I would have,’ he added to GQ.
The actor previously stated that he had ‘had enough’ of kissing sequences, adding that he shot his first at the age of 15 21 years ago.
‘It’s caused an interesting conversation. Touching and kissing are some of the few things in the world you can’t simulate; if you’re doing it, you’re doing it,’ he said.
He added to i: ‘I’ve been acting professionally for 25 years. I think my first kissing scene was when I was 15. I’m now 36. I’ve had enough. It’s my boundary and I’m here to set it!’
You is available to stream on Netflix.
