Peter Andre, the man behind Mysterious Girl, will be joining the likes of disgraced former Prime Minister Boris Johnson as a host on GB News, perhaps the strangest news we’ve heard all week.
We had no idea this was going to happen, and we’re wondering if Pete will be saying I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here by the end of December, as he’ll be hosting his own show on the controversial channel.
The right-wing network, known for its anchors espousing provocative ideas and branded with British flags as its logo, came under fire in September after presenters Laurence Fox and Dan Wootton made a terrible misogynistic joke about journalist Ava Evans.
Following the reaction, the network fired the two presenters after receiving over 8,000 Ofcom complaints.
Peter Andre steps in to rescue the day…
Throughout December, the 90s popstar, now 50, will co-host a new show on GB News.
Beginning this Saturday, he will co-host Saturday Morning Live with presenter Ellie Costello from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Fans were utterly battled by the news, as one took to X, formerly Twitter, and said: ‘”Peter Andre is going to host the breakfast show on GB News because the previous host left to take up a cabinet position” is quite a sentence to start the day with.’
‘It’s Insania,’ wrote another, nodding to Pete’s hit song from 2004. Very clever.
Another simply quipped, incredulous: ‘Of course he is.’
Pete and Costello previously co-hosted three episodes of the show in May, filling in for Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster.
Discussing his new role, the Behind Closed Doors singer said: ‘I can’t wait. Ellie and I got on so well in May, and although I was quite nervous because Breakfast is such a tough gig, I really loved it.
‘Viewers are really included in GB News programmes, so there’s an intimacy to your relationship with the audience that’s rare in television,’ he added.
‘I got wonderfully kind feedback from everyone, so it’ll be a joy to join the GB News family throughout Christmas.’
Head of GB News programming Ben Briscoe said of the unusual appointment: ‘Peter has proved he’s a natural when it comes to the high demands of anchoring a fast-paced news and current affairs programme.
‘He and Ellie have a wonderful rapport and the warmth of that really came across.
‘We had lots of viewers ask us to give Peter a more regular gig, so this was an easy decision.’
Saturday Morning Live will replace Mornings with Esther and Phil, which terminated earlier this month when its co-host, Esther McVey, acquired a Cabinet job.
Pete just announced that he and his wife Emily are expecting their third child together.
Emily, a general practitioner, and Pete already have two children together: Theo, six, and Amelia, nine.
Behind Closed Doors star also has two older children with ex-wife Katie Price, Princess, 16, and Junione, 18.
Saturday Morning Live airs from 10am to 12pm on GB News.
