We’ve all heard stories about Bruno Tonioli wrecking havoc on Britain’s Got Talent, but now we have firsthand accounts from the guy himself.
For the next series of the ITV talent programme, the former Strictly Come Dancing judge will be joined by Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, and Alesha Dixon.
Bruno is the new kid, taking over for David Walliams, and he claims he had no idea what to anticipate when he started.
The Italian artist, who appeared on The One Show on Thursday (April 13), spilled the beans on the already famous moment he punched the coveted golden buzzer mid-performance!
Of course, each series, the judges (together with broadcasters Ant and Dec) are given one unique golden buzzer that allows them to send an act through to the semi-finals.
However, after being assured that there were ‘no rules’ on BGT, Bruno ended up hitting his buzzer not once, but twice!
‘The weird thing is, I had no clue I was up for the job,’ the dancer said to broadcaster Alex Jones. I had absolutely no notion. I’d never seen it before!
‘How do I research? I got the job then I was on screen the next week.
‘I said, “Well, what are the rules, Simon?”, he said, “There’s no rules, darling, you just do your thing”.
‘Obviously, I did my thing… and you know what!’
‘I love the golden buzzer,’ he added excitedly. ‘Nobody told me that you are supposed to do it only once! I didn’t know! I kept asking him (Simon) and he’s the boss!’
Bruno erupted into bouts of laughter after viewing a teaser clip from this weekend’s broadcast, showing his anxiety to join the panel.
‘I messed up the buzzer the first day!’, he cackled.
‘I was petrified, I was very nervous,’ he admitted.
‘Nobody told me, I didn’t have any rehearsals, nothing, just, you’re on!’
Bruno proceeded to tease an ‘amazing’ dance troupe in the first round of auditions, that was ‘so incredible’ that he just ‘couldn’t wait’ to hit the buzzer.
‘I literally went for it, and it was mid-performance,’ he said, giggling. ‘I had no idea that the whole stage would explode with gold and there was this, kind of, gasp, I said, “What’s going on here? Have I done something wrong?”‘

‘Nobody told me that you have to wait until the end of the performance, but I know now!’
To be honest, we can’t wait to see the madness develop.
Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV1 and ITVX this Saturday and Sunday.
