Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby will compete at this year’s National Television Awards, just days after their apparent ‘fallout’ caused him to leave This Morning.
On Monday, May 22, the first episode of the ITV show to air after his departure aired, with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary filling in to start the half-term break.
Phillip, 61, spoke up about the’very tough’ previous few days in a statement posted on Saturday, indicating that he has chosen to step down with ‘immediate effect’ and acknowledging: ‘I realise that ITV has determined the current situation can’t carry on.’
Holly, 42, sent her own note, stating that the sofa in the studio wouldn’t ‘feel the same’ without him.
Previously, the couple attended the NTAs together, smiling for photographers and celebrating This Morning’s victory.
However, in only a few months, they might find themselves in a heated battle over one of the most sought rewards.
The longlist for the NTAs 2023 nominations has been announced, with 50 people named as probable candidates for the title of TV Presenter.
Voting is now open on the NTAs website, with members of the public able to select who they wish to see get the award.
All votes must be cast by 11 p.m. on Friday, June 2, and the shortlists for the categories featured at the awards ceremony will be unveiled in August, when the final round of voting will commence.
The winners will then be revealed on Tuesday, September 5 during the star-studded event.
