Piers Morgan has explained why he turned down Strictly Come Dancing.
According to the Uncensored host, BBC executives offered him a spot on the 2022 series, which was won by wildlife broadcaster Hamza Yassin.
This year, Les Dennis, Zara McDermott from Love Island, and Bobby Brazier from EastEnders have headed to the dancefloor in the hopes of impressing judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke, and Craig Revel Horwood.
Piers, on the other hand, has said unequivocally why he will not be joining them.
‘Strictly asked me last year,’ the 58-year-old added. There was insufficient funds.
‘If you want me to humiliate myself on a dance floor, I was offered $150,000 by Dancing With The Stars in America when I was doing America’s Got Talent.
‘And I said, “Come back to me if it’s $1.2million.”‘
That salary might be out of the BBC’s reach though, as he added to The Sun: ‘They haven’t come back yet.’
When asked if he would contemplate the Beeb’s offer, the former Good Morning Britain presenter quipped that he wouldn’t want to put the other stars “under that kind of pressure.”
Piers has turned down other reality shows as well, including Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly’s cheeky suggestion to ‘eat balls’ on I’m A Celebrity… Get Out of Here!
In past seasons, former health secretary Matt Hancock, music sensation Boy George, and the camp’s first ever royal Mike Tindall joined Lioness Jill Scott and Loose Women star Charlene White in the jungle.
Before the stars ever entered the jungle, Ant and Dec asked Piers on, to which he responded bluntly.
‘Thanks lads @antanddec but on balance I’d rather eat my own testicles,’ he penned.
