Rylan Clark chose compassion to kill a troll after they voiced their view on whether the presenter should succeed Phillip Schofield on This Morning.
According to sources, the 41-year-old Wylde Moon entrepreneur and Phil, 62, are ‘barely communicating’ behind the scenes of the ITV daytime programme, and their friendship has ‘cooled.’
While Phil has stated that they are “the best of friends” and that Holly is his “rock,” his Dancing On Ice co-star has yet to deny the accusations.
Several stories say Phil might depart This Morning, with fans weighing in on who should take his place.
However, one shared on Twitter: ‘Please God not Rylan to replace @Schofe . He’s on everything and is even more fake than Phil.’
The Eurovision presenter clearly wasn’t here for the shade and simply replied: ‘Morning,’ alongside a thumbs-up emoji.
Loose Women presenter Denise Welch also clapped back at the fan, writing: ‘Think you’re in the minority there Carole. You didn’t have to say that out loud!!!’
According to sources, Holly will likely host This Morning alongside her friend Alison Hammond or on her own, but no official announcement has been made.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, a source said: ‘Don’t be surprised if you never see them together again, apart from on camera.
‘This has all been so heartbreaking for Holly, but she knows she has to stand on her own two feet and cut the strings.’
They added: ‘Nobody ever thought it would end like this. They were part of one another’s families, and they spent a lot of their weekends socialising. She has tried so hard.’
In a statement shared last week, Phillip described Holly as his ‘rock’.
‘As I have said before, Holly is my rock,’ he stressed. ‘We’re the best of friends — as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone.’
He continued to The Sun: ‘Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her.
‘The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us.’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
