Sarah Beeny is healthy and joyful after becoming cancer-free.
The 51-year-old New Life in the Country star was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2022, after losing her mother to the illness when she was 10 years old.
Sarah kept her followers updated on her experience, which included chemotherapy and hair loss.
In April of this year, she announced that she had received the all-clear from the illness.
Sarah is currently set to broadcast a documentary on her cancer experience, Sarah Beeny versus Cancer, on Channel 4 – and has shared how she’s doing ahead of the debut.
Sarah was asked how she is feeling these days on Monday’s The One Show.
She smiled and responded, ‘Really good.’
‘I was really lucky with the diagnosis I had, and to live in 2022 in the UK with the amazing NHS. And I was lucky with the diagnosis I got… the job I have so I could carry on working. Lots of reasons.’
She went on to say that she has ‘always feared’ having breast cancer since her mother died of it when she was a youngster.
‘When I got to 39, which is the age she died, I thought “Here we are.” And then I got to 40 and thought, that’s weird! And then I got to 50 and got the diagnosis.’
‘I’ve lived with this fear for such a long time,’ she said. ‘But once I realised how the treatment works, it’s not nearly as bad as the fear.’
Sarah completed her final round of chemotherapy earlier this year and shared the news with followers on social media.
She said the words of support ‘genuinely meant so lot,’ adding ‘weirdly’ doesn’t seem so much like she’s received the ‘all clear’, but rather that it’s the ‘end of therapy’.
‘Subtle difference but good to be here either way!!’
Sarah Benny vs Cancer airs 9pm on Monday, June 12 on Channel 4. The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
