Saturday Kitchen was thrown into disarray today due to technological difficulties.
Host Matt Tebbutt and guest Rob Rinder were in the kitchen cooking and chatting about the latter’s BBC show Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby when they became aware that viewers were hearing distorted sounds.
Rob, 45, was passionately explaining his new idea when the microphone got muted, followed by offstage talk and a cough.
He then stayed utterly silent before returning to the mic to say, “And that’s what I love about the programme.”
Matt, 49, was told of the gaffe and apologised to viewers in his own country.
While Matt sought to redirect focus with his culinary abilities, a member of the production crew dashed into the studio kitchen to replace Rob’s microphone pack.
‘Look at me, I’ll keep talking,’ he announced. ‘Nobody look that way.’
Live TV is difficult, but they were able to rapidly repair the issue and continue with the BBC broadcast.
Viewers were aware of the sound issues and rushed to social media to express their displeasure.
‘What is going on with the sound? It’s scaring the c**p out of my dog every time it happens,’ wrote one person.
Another compared the show’s technical problems to a Doctor Who adversary.
‘The daleks are in the #SaturdayKitchen studio!’ they joked.

Despite the issues, the show still earnt high praise and it was even being described as ‘the best episode ever’.
‘Watching the best episode ever of @SaturdayKitchen right now. More history, more spices, more food, more beauty, and camaraderie than ever,’ they wrote.

Saturday Kitchen isn’t the only show that has had some on-air hiccups this week.
While hosting BBC Breakfast, Sally Nugent accidently confused her normal co-star for someone else.
On This Morning, Michael Barrymore questioned Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle’s presenting manner.
Saturday Kitchen next airs at 10am tomorrow on BBC Two and is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
