Simon Cowell received a taste of his own medicine as a young auditionee roasted him on Britain’s received Talent.
The 63-year-old TV judge was the target of a cruel prank from 11-year-old Harrison, who auditioned with Boycanto, a group of boys wanting to encourage others to perform.
Before performing Revolting Children from Matilda for the panel and audience, the cast chatted with Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli, and, of course, Simon about their ambitions and dreams.
Harrison took the lead, saying, ‘We’re from all around England, and we’re here to support males dancing, singing, and acting.’
‘If you won, what would mean more to you, performing in front of King Charles or receiving £250,000?’ Amanda continued.
Harrison’s remark was nice, despite the fact that he was clearly not interested in money.
‘King Charles!’, he said, without a moment of hesitation.
Simon then snapped his fingers in the style of Legally Blonde, but Harrison wasn’t finished.
‘You’ve gotta remember, it’s not all about the money, Simon!’, Harrison quipped.
His savage joke left the panel in stitches.
‘I 100% agree!’, Simon argued, proving he’s got a sense of humour.
‘Oh, well done, Harrison,’ Amanda praised.
Their spirited performance earned them four yeses from the judges, easily advancing them to the next round.
Despite being roasted earlier, Simon lavished praise on the group, saying, ‘You are revolting – and that’s a good thing.’
‘This was a really, really good audition, but just be really badly behaved going forwards,’ he teased.
‘My daughter’s obsessed with Matilda and I think children are gonna absolutely love you, your passion and energy was fantastic,’ Alesha added.
Bruno hailed their attitude ‘spot on’ and said enthusiastically: ‘You’re so bad, and I love it!’
‘Your singing was really, really good,’ Amanda said.
Viewers at home loved the group’s enthusiasm – and their vicious criticism of Simon.
‘That kid saying it’s not all about the money Simon – such a wise little boy’, one person tweeted.
‘Well done Boycanto that was brilliant and full of energy as well!’, another praised.
‘Boycanto …. I love this and makes a change !’, one added.
Britain’s Got Talent continues next weekend on ITV and ITVX.
