Siva Kaneswaran of Dancing On Ice battled to fight back tears as he remembered The Wanted actor Tom Parker and confessed his death prompted him to make a major life decision.
The late singer died in March 2022 at the age of 33, two years after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Siva, 34, became emotional as he revealed loving recollections of Parker as he prepared to devote a special skate on the competition programme to his old bandmate.
On ITV’s Loose Women, the popstar acknowledged that the tragic loss of a friend put life into perspective and forced him to be more proactive, particularly in the case of his long-awaited wedding.
Siva claimed that he and his fiancée Nareesha McCaffrey had been together for fifteen years and had been engaged for ten years.
‘I was pleased to pledge her my life, but we understood right away that we weren’t ready,’ the actress revealed.
He said that they had planned to travel before getting married but ended up settling in Los Angeles for the previous eight years, pushing things back.
Siva stated that the coming of Covid and the death of Parker drove him to re-evaluate everything and spurred him on to live his life.
The singer also disclosed information about his upcoming Dancing On Ice tribute to his late pal and couldn’t stop crying as he immediately noted how emotional and ‘sensitive’ the week had been for him.
He also claimed that he wanted to keep the topic about brain cancer awareness continuing with his routine and acknowledged that he ‘can’t even think straight’ as he was bombarded with memories of his pal.
Siva also claimed Parker was giving him signs and joked that the producers of Dancing On Ice were scheming him after his performance to an Elvis Presley song – whose manager was also named Tom Parker.
The chart leader, who had seen Jessie J perform the night before his visit on the daytime TV show, was taken aback when the Price Tag singer brought a surprise guest onstage.
Siva felt as though his late buddy was giving him a message when he called out Claude Kelly, who was a co-writer on the band’s smash single Gold Forever.
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
