Krishnan Guru-Murthy of Strictly Come Dancing appears to have a very close A-list circle, as Arnold Schwarzenegger extended his support ahead of this week’s Halloween special.
The Channel 4 reporter, 52, who is competing in the BBC competition alongside Bobby Brazier and Angela Rippon, has stunned the judges with his performances week after week.
While taking a break from the dance floor, Krishnan disclosed that he had interviewed the Austrian actor, who had graciously consented to shoot a message of encouragement for him and professional partner Lauren Oakley.
Arnold was heard saying: ‘I want to wish good luck to Lauren and Krishnan at their event. I mean, I know they’re going to outdo everybody.’
Sharing the surprise shout-out on Instagram, Krishnan penned: ‘What an amazing guy! Just met @schwarzenegger for an interview on @channel4news about his new book #Be Useful and explained I was doing the UK equivalent of #dancingwiththestars and he kindly obliged with this (largely to delight @laurenmayoakley).
‘Of course, if you vote to keep us in again this week WE’ll BE BACK.’
Fans were taken aback by the post and reacted fast in the comments section.
One person replied: ‘This is great!! I like how Arnie called it their ‘event’. Before long Krishnan could be known globally as the dancing reporter.’
Another added: ‘No one argues with the terminator!’
A third agreed: ‘From one legend to another! Krishnan, you are giving me LIFE on Strictly, an absolute joy to watch.’
This isn’t the first time a Hollywood icon has reached out to the Channel 4 host; Bono and the rest of U2 wished the Strictly couple well earlier this month.
The message was recorded during a break from their blockbuster Las Vegas engagement at the £1.8bn Sphere stadium, which runs until Christmas.
Krishnan captioned the post: ‘The team told Bono and The Edge in Las Vegas that we were dancing the Paso for #Strictly and they kindly sent us a message to ELEVATE our performance.
‘@laurenmayoakley apologies the captions won’t work for some reason – but he’s saying “A mole, digging in a hole, digging up my soul now, going down, excavation. Iron Eye in the sky, you make me feel like I can fly, so high, elevation. Good luck Krishnan and Lauren, not that we believe in luck.” #U2.’
Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
