Warning: spoilers ahead for Loki season 2 episode 2.
Today is a big day for Swifties all across the world, as Taylor Swift’s Eras tour concert film hits theatres.
Fans of the popstar were certainly thinking about her as they saw Loki season 2 episode 2, which also came out today, with cinemas such as Vue and Odeon playing the film in the UK.
It’s been seven years since Loki star Tom Hiddleston, 42, dated Taylor, 33, but if the Marvel series is any indication, they may have just teamed up to celebrate the premiere of the Eras film.
Loki is questioning TVA agent Hunter X-5 (Rafael Casal) in the latest episode of the Disney Plus drama, who is now going by the name Brad Wolfe after creating a reputation for himself as a movie star on the Sacred Timeline.
X-5 – who is now being kept as a prisoner at the TVA – makes very pointed digs at Loki about the destruction that has followed him and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) in the past, telling him: ‘See, everything you and Sylvie have ever done to try to help has only ever made it worse.’
‘Is that right?’ the God of Mischief asks, glaring unblinkingly at X-5.
The locked-up agent continues: ‘See, I’ve read your file. It’s you, you’re the problem.’
This may appear to be a regular bit of discourse… Swifties, on the other hand, instantly saw the wink that it appears to make to one of Taylor’s most adored songs.
In the song Anti-Hero, which was released on her 2022 album Midnights, the musician sings: ‘It’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me.’
It’s also odd that the song is titled anti-hero, given that Loki has frequently been depicted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a villain who finds redemption despite his mischievous and clever ways.

There’s even a lyric in the chorus that says, ‘It must be tiresome constantly supporting for the anti-hero,’ which many Marvel fans will likely be able to relate to after years of rooting for Loki.
Following the recent Loki episode, some fans took to Reddit to debate the possible Taylor allusion.
‘Loved the tiny Taylor Swift reference lol,’ one person wrote, as another replied: ‘“You’re the problem” to a Taylor Swift ex-boyfriend.’
Someone else added: ‘Loki is also an Anti-Hero,’ before also saying: ‘Was it planned or is it a HUGE coincidence that the Eras Tour Concert Film opens tomorrow?”
One fan also noted: ‘At the end of the episode I just kept thinking in my head “it must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero.”’
While it might have been a coincidence, we like to imagine the God of Mischief and the Queen of Pop provided the ultimate team-up.
Taylor and Tom dated in 2016 for a few months.
Tom is engaged to actress Zawe Ashton, who will participate in the next MCU film The Marvels. The singer is presently said to be dating American football player Travis Kelce. Tom and Zawe are parents to one kid.
Loki season 2 is available to watch on Disney Plus with new episodes released on Fridays.
