Dani Donovan and Victoria Goulbourne of The Apprentice have dismissed criticism regarding their characteristic wardrobe choices.
Lord Alan Sugar named Victoria, Dani, and Megan Hornby as the latest contenders to be removed from the process during yesterday’s edition of the BBC programme after their business concepts failed to impress.
Viewers couldn’t help but criticise the contestants’ dress choices in prior shows, which included Victoria and Dani putting their jackets over their shoulders.
‘Am I just really unfashionable or does the ‘I’m going to just place my jacket on my shoulders instead of wearing it like a normal person’ trend look absolutely ridiculous?’ one person wrote.
Another penned: ‘Why can’t they just put their arms in the sleeves of their jackets? They’re like walking coat hangers’, with someone else saying: ‘These people wearing their jackets as capes on #theapprentice are annoying me’.
In an interview with Metro.co.uk following their elimination, the businesswomen ignored fashion criticism and defended their daring appearances.
‘With fashion, if you like something wear it,’ Victoria said.
‘It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. I actually find it comfier wearing my blazer like that.’
‘I’m extremely proud of myself because I’ve kept off Twitter,’ Dani says of the abuse she’s received since viewing the episode again.
‘I try and avoid any negativity because it just brings you down for no reason. I’m not bothered by what they have to say. I always own what I wear, and you can’t be everyone’s taste. I did see a few articles, but it never really fazed me.’
The dreaded interviews returned on Thursday’s last show of the year, which comes the week before the finale and is one of the most-loved by viewers.
For the second year in a straight, it featured an all-female lineup, with Victoria, Dani, and Megan competing for a spot in Lord Sugar’s final two.
Nonetheless, Rochelle Raye Anthony and Marnie Swindells will compete for the position of Lord Sugar’s next business partner.
But who will be hailed victorious?
The Apprentice returns on Thursday at 9pm on BBC One.
