A Springfield classic is finally getting a new love interest in The Simpsons, voiced by a Doctor Who great.
Karen Gillan, 36, said on Instagram weeks after The Simpsons killed off one of its most menacing characters that she’d earned a role in the perennially long-running cartoon series in the role she was ‘born to play’.
What is the role? Maisie, the new hottie who has attracted the eye of local hunk Groundskeeper Willie. And, yeah, he’s a hottie.

‘I can finally announce the role I was born to play,’ she told her 8.5million followers.
‘That’s right folks, I’m Groundskeeper Willie’s new Scottish love interest in The Simpsons.
‘SO honoured to join this legendary show! Episode airs this weekend.’
Karen will also be joined by David Tennant as Pa MacWeldon in the episode AE Bonny Romance, in which Willie is abducted and returned to Scotland.
The Simpsons will also travel to the Land of the Brave, where Homer will face his darkest dread.
Naturally, fans are overjoyed.
‘I thought I couldn’t have a bigger crush on Karen Gillan,’ tweeted one admirer of the Marvel star, who also noted: ‘And are The Simpsons going back to using celebrity actors as characters instead of themselves on the show?? Maybe it really is entering its second Renaissance!’
Another squealed ‘saweeet’ while one fan was just excited to see ‘the universe is healing’.
Kylie Jenner has already made her debut in this season of The Simpsons, joining the small club of celebrities who have graced Springfield, including Lady Gaga, Sir Paul McCartney, and former President Donald Trump.
The Simpsons is available to stream on Disney Plus in the UK.
