Alan Cumming is already planning season two of Traitors US, but he wants to make one behind-the-scenes tweak before then.
The American version of the highly successful series will arrive at on January 12, with the stage legend hosting.
In contrast to the UK competition, a slew of celebrities, including Kate Chastain and Brandi Glanville, will compete for the $250,000 prize in the remote Scottish castle.
Alan spoke to Metro.co.uk ahead of the launch about the upcoming episodes and how he found receiving a front row seat to the dramatic conflict between the Traitors and the Faithful.
When asked if he had any celebrities in mind for a possible second season, he came up with an entirely other idea.
‘I didn’t really know many of the celebrities because I don’t really watch television in that way,’ he told us. ‘But I knew a couple, I recognized a couple.
‘The thing I would say, if we do a season two, I would like the photographs that I am given of the celebrities at the start of the show – to learn who is who and to practice knowing their names – I would like those photographs to be post their plastic surgery. Because that was not the case this time around.
‘A couple of people, I was like “that’s not them!” Then I realized it was them, they just had some work done for the show.
‘So that would be my one wish for next time.’
Noted…
The popular game show involves a group of strangers who are covertly divided into two groups, the Faithful and the Traitors, with the latter having the authority to murder their co-stars.
To escape being murdered and, possibly, winning the money, the Faithful must work together to figure out who the perpetrators are and who has been lying the whole time.
Alan admitted that there were times when he found it ‘tough’ to speak to the participants because he knew who the Traitors were.
However, despite his insistence that there were no points, he subtly guided them in a different way.

‘They were all pretty good about it,’ he continued. ‘I was very cautious whenever I got near them.
‘The character I play – it’s me hosting it, but there’s obviously a character – and the character is very haughty, so that made it easier.
‘Quite a lot of people make quite bad decisions all the time on this show so I got used to it. The worst thing was holding information and knowing things, knowing who the Traitors were…
‘Towards the end, it got really brutal when I’m talking to people and I know that they’re not going to have the outcome they think they’re going to have. That was really hard.
‘I wasn’t really allowed to speak to the contestants very much. Sometimes during the tasks, we would chat as we were huddling under a tent or something. But mostly I was kept away from them.
‘I’m not very good at keeping secrets so it’s probably a very wise thing.’
The Traitors US premieres on on January 12.
