The Traitors US has been officially picked up for a second season, and to say that we are ecstatic about this development is something of an understatement.
The first season of the epic game show was filled with paranoia, drama, disputes, and tears, and it culminated in Cirie Fields being crowned the ultimate Traitor and winning the prize purse of $250,000.
Alongside Cirie, a motley crew of regular people and celebrities, such as the star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Brandi Glanville, and the actress who plays Kate Chastain on Below Deck, were tossed into the mix.
And now it looks like the cast will be getting back together, which we can’t wait for.
Who knows what kind of drama will ensue now that there have been evictions and deaths, disagreements between Big Brother star Rachel Reilly and Kate, and the traitor Arie Luyendyk Jr. walking out at the very last moment.
Andy Cohen, a Bravo celebrity who is well known for hosting the reunions of the Beverly Hills Housewives, will be the one in charge of the event hosting duties.
And as if hearing about the reunion wasn’t exciting enough, Peacock has announced that there will be a second season, which will be presented by Alan Cumming once more.
‘The Traitors is an ambitious, highly addictive and spontaneous format that keeps contestants and viewers on their toes,’ said Corie Henson, EVP Entertainment Unscripted Content at NBCUniversal.
‘Alan Cumming is a well-dressed genius, the producers at Studio Lambert are brilliant storytellers and the show is the perfect mix of drama and suspense to keep our Traitors and Faithfuls craving more.’
This news comes after the producer of The Traitors, Stephen Lambert, dropped hints that a second season of the British adaptation would possibly be in the works.
At the end of the competition, Meryl Williams, Aaron Evans, and Hannah Byczkowski were successful in locating and expelling all of the Traitors. As a result, each of them was awarded a portion of the £101,050 prize pool.
Stephen, the CEO of Studio Lambert, the production company that is responsible for The Traitors, responded to the question that is on all of our minds when he gave an interview to Ros Atkins on the BBC podcast The Media Show. He said, “I assume a second series has been ordered by the BBC or will be shortly?”
His response was, “They’re making the right noises,”.
Keep everything crossed!
The Traitors season one reunion will be able to stream on Peacock from February 28.
