The This Morning cast have revealed who they want to play them in an explosive TV drama, and it’s a surprise.
Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were believed to be ‘barely speaking’ before he left following a stunning disclosure that he previously had a ‘unwise but not criminal’ romance with a younger staffer.
Not long after, This Morning received boos at the National Television Awards, prompting Holly, 42, to leave the show as well.
And don’t even get us started on queue-gate.
It’s reasonable to argue that a TV show based entirely on drama would be insane, and now Alison Hammond and Gyles Brandreth have revealed who they want to portray them.
In a discussion about The Crown season six, which has just dropped a trailer ahead of the final instalment released later this year, Alison joked: ‘Do you think when Netflix decide to do the drama on This Morning you’re going to be complaining about your characters?’
As Dermot O’Leary worried over where this question was leading, Vanessa Feltz threw in her suggestion: ‘I reckon, Meryl Streep for Feltz! I’ve always thought Meryl Streep would be marvellous as me.’
Gyles added: ‘Johnny Depp is coming out of semi-retirement to play me, which is completely fantastic.’
Meanwhile, Dermot suggests that Richard E. Grant portray Gyles instead.
‘The late Roger Moore has been my fantasy,’ the Gogglebox star replied.
‘I can’t wait for that!’ Alison added, saying she’d actually want to play herself.
‘Maybe Judi Love,’ she later joked! ‘Judi would step in.’
‘Halle Berry I was thinking,’ Vanessa said.
This comes after much discussion about who might portray Schofield in a TV drama.
According to prior reports, a series called The Runner is in the works to dramatise his departure from This Morning and ITV.
An insider said the rumoured TV show’s storyline ‘will reflect what went on,’ adding: ‘People have seen it from the outside but the drama will give a perspective on what may have occurred behind-closed-doors.
‘It could make for uncomfortable viewing for Phil and ITV.’
Happy Valley’s James Norton, Michael Sheen, David Tennant, and Martin Compston have all been linked to the role of the former Dancing On Ice judge.
Meanwhile, after showcasing her new blonde hair, people claimed that Emma Stone might portray Holly.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
