Before Tina Turner’s demise, many actors and actresses paid tribute to her onscreen, but John Krasinski did it better than anyone else.
The music icon passed away on May 24 at the age of 83, as her spokesperson confirmed in a statement.
Following the news, celebrities including Barack Obama, Beyonce, and Mick Jagger took to social media to share heartfelt tributes and commemorate her remarkable career.
While many have reflected on the Best singer’s musical achievements, some admirers couldn’t help but recall Krasinski’s 2015 appearance on Lip Sync Battle, in which he lip synced to her performance of Proud Mary.
In one of the very first episodes of season one of the successful series, the Office actor faced off against Anna Kendrick and pulled out all the stops to do Turner proud.
He initially appeared on stage wearing a black suit and tie and wowed the audience by miming to the beginning of the song.
However, as the music grew louder, he tore off his suit to reveal a silver sequined minidress with fringe.
He danced nonstop around the stage as Chrissy Teigen and LL Cool J applauded.
Krasinski concluded the spectacular performance by shimmying with his backup dancers before whirling and falling to his knees.
Fans discussed Turner’s legacy on social media, with one tweeting, ‘Forever linked to Tina Turner in my mind.’

After news of Turner’s death emerged, one commented on the official video, penning: ‘That was awesome!’
A fan explained that they could not think of the celebrity without recalling the Lip Sync Battle scene, calling it “awesome.”
A representative for Turner verified the tragic news of her passing to PA on Wednesday morning.
‘Tina Turner, the “Queen of Rock’n Roll” has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland,’ it read.
‘With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.’
A further Instagram post stated, ‘It is with tremendous sorrow that we announce Tina Turner’s passing.
‘With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow.
‘Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family.
‘Tina, we will miss you dearly.’
