Tom Holland has said that something he had to do for his role in The Crowded Room irritated his fiancée Zendaya.
The 27-year-old Spider-Man actor plays Danny Sullivan, who is imprisoned for a terrible crime in Manhattan in the summer of 1979.
Tom, who also serves as an executive producer, recently said that he will be taking a long hiatus from acting after the project ‘broke’ him.
The seriousness of the play appears to have damaged his relationship.
His Euphoria actress girlfriend, 26, was not a fan of his hairstyle and had to ‘put up’ with it for over a year.
‘I would come home from work and I would see myself in the mirror and I would see him,’ Tom said in regards to his character.
‘So it did take a while to figure out how to put him to bed and wake Tom up and get on with my life and be myself.

‘But I figured it out and was very happy and healthy,’ he added when speaking to Radio Times.
He continued: ‘And also I had the bangs. Bless Zendaya, she had a lot to put up with, with me looking like that for 10 months. It was rough.’
Tom then said that his new hairdo was something he was eager to ditch by the time the cameras stopped filming.
‘I don’t like my hair being that dark. I really like how my hair is like my mum’s, kind of red. Yeah, it was tough. That was a part of the show that I don’t miss for sure,’ he said.
Last week, the actor discussed the role’s significance, which led him to realise he needed to take a vacation from his career for a bit.
‘I love the learning curve of becoming a producer. I’m no stranger to hard work. I’ve always sort of lived by this idea that hard work is good work,’ he told Extra.
‘I really enjoyed it, but then again, the show did break me. There did come a time where I was sort of like, “I need to have a break,” I disappeared.
After taking a week-long holiday in Mexico to have ‘some time on a beach’, Tom said he was taking a year off due to ‘how difficult this show was’.
The Crowded Room is streaming on Apple TV Plus.
