Rejoice, baking fans, for your favourite show – the Great British Bake Off – is back.
Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith return to judge the 12 contestants’ clever culinary creations – while hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas get all the gossip from the white tent.
A range of wannabe star bakers are taking part this year – including a nuclear scientist (yep), cardiovascular researcher, electronics engineer and a sax music teacher.
But when does all the baking action kick off, and what is tonight’s theme?
Here is everything you need to know.
What time does Great British Bake Off start tonight?
The first episode of Great British Bake Off’s new series will air at 8pm tonight (September 13) on Channel 4.
It’ll be on for 90 minutes, so the sweet treats will keep on comin’ until 9.30pm, at which point you’ll have to wait until next week for more.
Luckily, upcoming episodes will start 8pm on Tuesdays, too.
What is tonight’s theme?
The first theme of Bake Off’s new series is a classic… it’s Cake Week.
There are two tasks at hand for this year’s bakers, including creating the perfect sponge cake, crafting 12 mini-cakes, and one giant showstopper made entirely from sponge.

The latter is supposed to reflect ‘a scaled down version of a home close to their hearts’ – so we’re curious to see those architecturally-challenging designs put into action.
Week two’s theme will be Biscuit Week.
GBBO teases: ‘The bakers [will] kick off with illusion macarons in the Signature, before producing a fruity favourite in the Technical.
‘And in the Showstopper, they put their creativity to the test by making a 3D mask entirely from biscuits.’
Future themes this year will expand to include a Mexican Week.
The Great British Bake Off 2022 starts tonight at 8pm on Channel 4.
