Adele Roberts has revealed that her mother, Jackie Roberts, has died following a very touching performance on tonight’s Dancing On Ice.
Adele appeared sad on tonight’s episode as she and professional skater partner Mark Hanretty delivered a tear-jerking performance of I Can See Clearly Now, but viewers had no idea she was mourning her beloved mother.
The 44-year-old former BBC Radio 1 broadcaster revealed that she wanted to finish her performance tonight before revealing the heartbreaking news.
Adele posted to social media only hours after the concert concluded to dedicate tonight’s performance to her ‘wonderful mom’.
Adele said in a lengthy post that she bid goodbye to mom ‘this week’ and that her late mother witnessed the start of tonight’s routine, which received the highest score of the season thus far.
She also praised Mark, whom she described as ‘amazing’, and the rest of the Dancing On Ice crew for helping her through one of the most difficult weeks of her life, as well as her family for their support.
The radio star said in full: ‘For you Mum 🕊️🥀
‘Tonight’s performance was dedicated to the memory of my beautiful Mum, Jackie Roberts.
‘I didn’t want to say anything until I’d managed to get through our routine tonight. So apologies if it seemed I was overly emotional. My heart is broken and I miss my mum so much.
‘Saying goodbye to her this week was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. My mum got to see the start of our routine… and tonight I wanted to finish it in her honour.
‘To my family. Thank you for keeping my head up and for giving me the strength to carry on. Thank you also to all the amazing people who came to help us say goodbye to her this week. You brought us so much comfort standing by our side.
‘Thank you to the whole incredible Dancing On Ice team for guiding me through one of the toughest weeks of my life. Especially you @markhanretty. I know how much you wanted to help me do my mum proud and I know it would have been playing on your mind all night. You are incredible.
‘Thank you for teaching me to dance, to skate and joy of expressing emotion through my body. Your sport is so beautiful. I still can’t believe tonight happened.
‘Thank you to every single person who has supported us so far. We are absolutely blown away by your encouragement and kindness. Mark and I are truly grateful and we promise to keep trying our best and give it 100%
‘And to my biggest supporter from day one – my incredible mum. Goodnight my love.
‘I shall think of you and miss you everyday of my life. Forever my hero.
Until we meet again ❤️.’
Fans flocked to support Adele in her mourning, as Instagram user nath_a_ev commented: ‘Oh Adele, I’m so sorry. She will be so proud, you were amazing.’
‘Oh Adele. So very sorry for your loss. You did your Mum proud tonight,’ @cheryl.liddell74 agreed.
Fellow Dancing on Ice star Greg Rutherford also offered his condolences, as he said: ‘So sorry to hear this @adeleroberts. Your resilience blows my mind.
‘What an absolutely incredible human you are. Sending so much love and support, looking forward to seeing you in the week and giving you the biggest hug.’

Adele has been through a lot in recent years, and she will be the first Dancing on Ice star to compete with a stoma bag, which she has carried since being diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2021.
Adele received the all-clear less than a year later, in June 2022.
