Britney Spears has reacted angrily to her family’s shock settlement with her father Jamie following their years-long legal battle.
The Toxic hitmaker, 42, has settled her legal dispute with Jamie over the possible mismanagement of her contentious conservatorship.
Britney will pay her father’s legal fees, estimated to be $2 million (£1.5 million), as well as her own, while receiving nothing.
Britney responded to the ruling on Instagram, sharing a mirror selfie in a thong with a lengthy caption detailing the ‘hurt’ her family has caused.
‘I was actually right about nerve damage in my back !!! I have to get acupuncture every day of my life now !!! Words and thinking too hard make it worse !!! If people only knew how I’ve had to crawl to my own door one time!!!’ she began before she later deleted her entire Instagram account.
She then went on to talk about her family, writing: ‘My family hurt me !!! There has been no justice and probably never will be !!! The people who sat and did absolutely nothing when they did that for four months are smooth sailing.
‘The way I was brought up I was always taught the formative of right and wrong but the very two people who brought me up with that method hurt me !!! I am so lucky to be here!!!’
Britney admitted that she had never told them this ‘face to face’, and that she probably never will as it ‘would not be safe.’
‘It’s funny ‘cus till this very day I haven’t told them face to face !!! I text through IG but I honestly believe it will not be so safe if I ever did go face to face so !!! The child in me knows they would be destroyed and that’s basically it!!!’
She ended the post: ‘I do miss my home in Louisiana and I wish I could visit but they took everything!!!.’
It comes after a source told TMZ that Britney is said to be ‘furious’ over the outcome of her legal battles with Jamie.
Britney’s 13-year conservatorship ended in 2021, and Jamie, one of her conservators, is seeking court approval for law firm fees as well as his current lawyer Alex Weingarter’s legal bill. Mathew S. Rosengart, the singer’s lawyer, objected to the fees.
The settlement means that Britney and Jamie have avoided going to trial, with Jamie’s lawyer saying his client is ‘thrilled all this is over.’
He continued in a statement: ‘He regrets the irresponsible and specious allegations made against him in public.’
Britney’s lawyer described her as a ‘brilliant and brave artist of historic and epic proportion’, adding ‘Her wish for freedom is now truly complete.’
The statement continued: ‘As she desired, her freedom now includes that she will no longer need to attend or be involved with court in this matter.’
