Dua Lipa revealed that she would write and perform the title song for the live-action remake of the famous Barbie film.
According to MailOnline, the pop singer, 27, has allegedly signed on to the highly awaited film and written a one-time single that will appear in the forthcoming project.
According to a social media statement, she will also play a mermaid Barbie, while Dame Helen Mirren will speak the narrator in the forthcoming film about the world-famous toy.
Following the rumoured news of a Barbie-inspired Dua hit, a first-look photo posted on the official Instagram account of the Barbie movie revealed the singer dressed in costume.
The singer dressed up as her mermaid character in a sparkling blue bralette and matching skirt ahead of the film’s premiere.
Dua concealed her raven tresses beneath a bright blue wig with soft curly curls that lay below her shoulders.
Her part was disclosed alongside the picture in a caption that read: ‘Dua Lipa. This Barbie is a mermaid.’
The film, directed by Oscar nominee Greta Gerwig, will also feature Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa as guitar-playing Ken and Bridgerton‘s Nicola Coughlan as ambassador Barbie.
Other ensemble members include Ana Cruz Kayne as Supreme Court Justice Barbie, Emerald Fennell from The Crown as Barbie’s closest friend Midge, and Scott Evans as a cowboy hat-wearing Ken.
Michael Cera will play Ken’s buddy Allan, Issa Rae will play President Barbie, and Emma Mackey from Sex Education will play a Barbie with a Nobel Prize in Physics.
Human figures will be portrayed by America Ferrera from Ugly Betty, Will Ferrell from Elf, Jamie Demetriou from Stath Lets Flats, and Connor Swindells from Sex Education.
The actors, who mostly revealed their roles on Instagram, will join Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, who play Barbie and Ken Doll, respectively.
The film will be published on July 21, and a trailer unveiled in December featured a comedic parody of the iconic science-fiction blockbuster 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Barbie, which debuted in 1959, has previously inspired cartoon versions such as The Nutcracker, Rapunzel, and Swan Lake.
