Gary Lineker looks to have gotten himself into trouble again due to his Twitter account, with the social media site examining his page.
The BBC took the football expert and Match of the Day presenter off the air last month after he tweeted a comparison of the government’s immigration policy to 1930s Germany.
While he has now returned to hosting responsibilities, it looks that his social media activity may once again be scrutinised after he lost his blue tick on Twitter.
On Saturday, Gary, 62, answered to a concern about why his account no longer had a verification tick.
‘No idea. I’m under review apparently,’ he shared, whilst also tagging Twitter and one of its support pages.
When someone joked that he could have missed his £8 bill when paid account advantages were added for users, Gary stated that this did not appear to be the case.
‘I’ve actually been paying it for a while. Only for the Edit button, but nevertheless,’ he shared.
However, it appears that the problem might be that he changed his profile photo, with other users reporting that their accounts were reviewed after they did the same.
Gary altered his profile photo last month, which appeared to be a covert jab at his employment.
He was shown standing in front of a plaque that mentioned George Orwell in it.
It read: ‘If liberty means anything at all it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.’
The plaque is part of a tribute to the author outside the BBC’s Broadcasting House in London, which also features a statue of a former employee who worked there during WWII but left to focus on penning Animal Farm.
