The Oscar nominations for 2023 have been released, and Jamie Lee Curtis has received her first nomination.
The renowned movie star, 64, will be nominated for best supporting actress at this year’s award for her portrayal in Everything, Everything, Everywhere.
Curtis marked the monumental milestone shortly after the full nominations list was published on Tuesday, uploading a snapshot of herself responding to the news while also adding the feat was ‘never even in my wildest dream box’.
Curtis said on social media that shortly before this year’s nominations were announced, one of her closest friends and a fellow director texted her and asked if she wanted company while watching the big reveal.
Curtis could be seen looking at her TV with her hand wrapped over her mouth, explaining that the shot was taken at the precise moment her name was given out.
Curtis looks at the camera with her mouth wide open in a second photo, which she stated was her response to learning that her friend and Everything Everywhere All at Once co-star Stephanie Hsu had also been nominated in the category.

She also shared a photo of her parents, Tony and Janet Curtis, with her 4.8 million Instagram followers, saying she was’stunned’ and ‘humbled’ by the nomination.
The Halloween actress also tweeted a snapshot of the cast and crew of Everything Everywhere All at Once.
‘It was never even in my wildest fantasy box,’ Curtis wrote in the post.
‘I have always felt very much like an outsider looking in and yet always so grateful for any and all opportunities I have had.’
The star went on: ‘Being a part of this beautiful movie, which just received so many acknowledgments for our talented, motley crew of artists, is the highlight of my professional life.

‘As this is a movie about a family of immigrants and their struggles through life, immediately I’m thinking of my parents, children of immigrants from Hungary and Denmark, whose families came here and sacrificed for their children to achieve their dreams.’
Curtis concluded: ‘I can only imagine what it would feel like for them and their parents to hear that their daughter/granddaughter was nominated this morning for an Oscar.
‘I am stunned and humbled and excited for our little movie that could and did and based on today’s nominations, continues to do and do and do.’
This week’s Oscar nominations were dominated by the action comedy Everything, Everywhere, All at Once.
Michelle Yeoh, who received a Best Actress nomination for her portrayal, is a launderette owner who travels to numerous parallel realms to battle evil.
Curtis and Yeoh’s co-star Hsu has also been named a nominee for best supporting actress, and their film will compete for best picture, director, costume design, editing, original song, and original script on the night.
Allison Williams and Riz Ahmed presented the nominees from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater on Tuesday.
The top categories included Top Gun: Maverick, Elvis, Avatar: The Way of Water, and the Banshees of Inisherin.
It was a watershed moment for Paul Mescal, Bill Nighy, and Colin Farrell, who received their first Oscar nominations for best actor for their roles in Aftersun, Living, and The Banshees of Inisherin.
For the Whale, they will compete against Elvis Presley’s Austin Butler and Brendan Fraser.
Ana de Armas will be the centre of attention at the next presentation, having been nominated for best actress for Blonde with Cate Blanchett in Tar, Andrea Riseborough for To Leslie, Michelle Williams from The Fabelmans, and Yeoh.
While Tom Cruise was not nominated for an acting award, his Top Gun: Maverick sequel was nominated for best film.
The action film is up against All Quiet on the Western Front, James Cameron’s epic Avatar: The Way of Water, The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, and Tar.
In addition to Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Fabelmans, Triangle of Sadness, and Women Talking are vying for the top prize.
Jimmy Kimmel will host the awards ceremony in March, and he is no stranger to the stage, having previously hosted the event in 2017 and 2018.
‘Being asked to host the Oscars for a third time is either a fantastic honour or a trap,’ the late-night talk show host stated at the time.
‘In any case, I am grateful to the Academy for asking me so soon after everyone else said no.’
In an interview with Extra about what fans might expect on the night, he insisted on making jokes about last year’s event, when Will Smith came on stage to slap Chris Rock, leaving everyone stunned.
‘It has to come up in some way,’ he told the outlet.
‘You know, I don’t want to make too much of it because it wasn’t [funny] to comedians.
‘You know, comedians are mad about it…it’s one of those things that for a group of people that find everything funny, it’s not funny, you know?’
The 95th Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, March 12, in Los Angeles, with some of the industry’s top personalities expected to walk the red carpet.
