Mariah Carey has dusted off her Mrs Claus outfit to officially cut the ribbon on Christmas season.
With Halloween over, the Grammy-winning singer has fulfilled her annual tradition of declaring November 1 the start of the festive period.
That’s right folks, it’s time to pack away the pumpkins, horror films and spiced lattes and whip out the tinsel, baubles and cheesy Christmas movies.
At the stroke of midnight (somewhere in the world), Mariah, 52, shared the social media post fans were waiting for.
The video opens with the singer dressed as a witch and cackling away while riding a static exercise bike against a backdrop of a dark forest filled with glowing pumpkins. As the date is shown reaching November 1, the day after Halloween, the scene transforms to show a more festive picture.
Mariah, dressed as Mrs Claus in a red jumpsuit and black belt with white fur around the collar, swaps the exercise bike for a reindeer with a snowy backdrop behind her.
She then belts out a piercing note while singing ‘it’s time’ as the familiar jingles of her Christmas classic hit All I Want For Christmas Is You begins playing.
‘IT’S TIIIIIIIIME!!!!!!!! 🎄🎉❤️#MariahSZN,’ Mariah captioned the post.
Leading the cheers was actress Halle Berry who commented on the post with a string of red heart emoji.
Billy Eichner also adorably wrote: ‘This elf is ready!!!!’
Mariah has made a routine of marking the start of the festive season on social media with fun videos that often go viral. In 2021, she posted a video of her smashing a carved pumpkin with a candy-striped baseball bat.
It was only in 2020 that All I Want For Christmas Is You finally reached number one in the UK – 26 years after its release.
The song initially peaked at number two in 1994, losing out to East 17’s Stay Another Day, but reached the top spot following a closely fought battle with fellow festive anthem Last Christmas by Wham!
