Ulrika Jonsson has spoken up to defend Molly-Mae Hague against internet parodies and abuse regarding her daughter’s name.
On January 23, the Love Island actress, 23, and her boxer boyfriend Tommy Fury, also 23, had baby Bambi.
Molly-Mae sparked a social media frenzy last week when she revealed the lovely news, but she was met with surprise when she revealed her daughter’s Disney-inspired name.
Molly-Mae was compelled to turn down comments on her Instagram, which has 7.1 million followers, after sharing a picture of baby Bambi’s room and showing the infant laying in her cot.
The new parents’ excitement was only heightened when baby was revealed that Bambi’s trendy acrylic crib had cost them roughly £5,000 to purchase.
But media personality Ulrika isn’t having it, praising Bambi’s name as “sweet enough.”
The Swedish-British television personality, 55, wrote for The Sun that Bambi could not like her nickname once she’reaches school age or starts dating.’
‘Hence, I chose a good trainspotter’s name for my youngest – Malcolm. You can’t argue with that,’ she wrote.
Ulrika, on the other hand, claims that the criticism to Bambi’s opulent nursery is only jealousy.
‘Of course, much of the criticism is based on envy,’ she wrote.
‘Molly-Mae is entitled to do whatever she wants with her money.’
Ulrika went on to reflect on her own motherhood experiences and the ‘pressure’ she felt to have everything perfect.
‘It seemed that was all that mattered – neutral colours, the latest, best-quality products,’ she wrote.
‘Until my English Nana quietly reminded me that she just put her firstborn in the top drawer of her bedroom dresser – and he turned out all right. It was an important lesson.
‘It’s all too easy to concentrate on perfection when health and wellbeing should be the priorities ahead of the arrival.
‘Babies simply need to be fed and held and kept warm.’
Ulrika continued by saying that her following children were met with “less frivolity,” referring to herself as a “mere human” in compared to PrettyLittleThing creative director Molly-Mae.
‘Mere mortals can only dream of a nursery like little Bambi’s, who will be utterly oblivious to the overindulgence surrounding her,’ she added.
‘But then I suspect Bambi isn’t just any old newborn.
‘She’s going to help make Molly-Mae one of the greatest “mumfluencers” around.’
