We didn’t see Penny Mordaunt being the show’s star on our Coronation bingo cards. However, the Tory MP wowed observers from all around with her remarkable participation to the proceedings yesterday.
The former Splash candidate was invited to play a key part in the event as the head of the House of Commons – key being the crucial word.
Penny was compelled to carry a massive sword, the Jewelled Sword of Offering, which had a thick hilt adorned with diamonds, rubies, and emeralds.
Her composed stance and calm demeanour astounded social media fans, and she disclosed that she’d been performing press-ups in preparation for the big event. But it wasn’t the only reason Penny gained popularity.
Her ensemble, a commissioned blue dress with a tinge of teal by the London-based company Safiyaa, will undoubtedly go down as one of the most memorable of the day.
She wore it with a hat by milliner Jane Taylor, both with fern motifs embroidered by the studio Hand & Lock.
We’d love to channel such Coronation Street style for a trip to the supermarket, perhaps. But, regrettably, this was a one-time thing, and it should probably stay that way.
But a paired back version of the Roni Poseidon Midi Dress by Safiyaa, without the personalised embroidery, is available to purchase online for £1,195.

For those looking to include a little Penn into their wardrobe in a more wearable way, we’ve gathered some of our best teal pieces from the high street.
Now, where can we get a sword…
