There’s a new ‘Zara dress that’s absolutely everywhere’ for 2022

A few summers back, it was almost impossible to walk down the street without seeing *that* Zara dress.

The monochrome midi became so ubiquitous it spawned an Instagram account dedicated to spotting wearers in the wild – and it seems there’s a new contender for 2022.

Despite also being from Zara, the Printed Mini Dress is very different in terms of shape and style, with no spots in sight and a higher hemline to suit warmer days.

What they both have in common, however, is easy wearability.

Eagle-eyed fashionista Sarah Gledhill recently shared a TikTok of a day out to York Races, counting up the number of times she saw people wearing the must-have item.

She spied it dozens of times, with commenters (some of whom already owned the dress) agreeing that it was hitting peak popularity.

‘This has made my day,’ said one person. ‘I’ve literally been sending my sister photos around London this last week every time i see this dress – it’s become a game.’

Other creators from across the world (at least the countries that have Zara anyway) shared similar videos, proving that the appeal of the perfect dress isn’t confined by borders.

Some may balk at the idea of wearing the same outfit as hundreds of others. However, there’s typically a good reason for why a certain high street piece becomes inescapable.

Price is undoubtedly a factor. The Printed Mini Dress comes in at £32.99, making it affordable for the average shopper when compared to more exclusive brands.

Then there’s the dress itself. With button fastening, a collar, and a skater-style skirt that isn’t super short, it’s versatile enough for work and weddings alike.

There are a variety of colours and patterns to choose from, but the green and pink paisley options appear to be the most prevalent.

Rather than taking the garment’s ever-presence as a sign of it being ‘basic’ or ‘common’, we encourage you to embrace it.

If something you own is flattering on such a wide range of people and has such a broad appeal – to the point it becomes a meme – you’re in good company.
