Disney eventually debuted the first full trailer for The Little Mermaid during the Oscars 2023 broadcast, after months of teasing and the odd false start.
The highly awaited live-action adaptation of the legendary 1989 animated film, starring Halle Bailey, will be released in May.
Nevertheless, fans have only received a brief view of the film thus far, thanks to a clip of Bailey singing Part of Your World, which was published in September.
Because fans were upset that the caravan didn’t debut during the Super Bowl, Disney released a sample of villain Ursula’s scary laugh last month.
Only seconds after, the new clip was released on Disney’s social media sites, teasing: ‘Watch and you’ll see, Someday I’ll be, Part of your world.’
The two-minute teaser begins with dramatic storm sequences depicting Ariel (Bailey) racing to save Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) from drowning.
Ariel is shown rescuing him and delivering him to safety on the beach as he is thrown from his flaming ship into the dark depths of the ocean.
In keeping with the Disney original, Ariel is shown looking fondly at him on the shore before being scared away by his troops who are coming to find him.
The caravan also revealed Javier Bardem as King Triton, complete with a spectacular beard and chestplate.
‘You broke the rules, you went to the above world,’ he tells his daughter, adding: ‘This obsession with humans has to stop.’
More of Melissa McCarthy’s Ursula is also revealed, with the actress appearing and sounding unrecognisable as she bargains with the mermaid for her voice in frightening sequences.
Flounder (Awkwafina), Sebastian (Daveed Diggs), and Flounder (Jacob Tremblay) are also present and proper, offering their assistance as Ariel’s friends after she acquires her legs.
Fans will be most excited to witness Bailey give the renowned ending to Part of Your World in strong tones as she recreates the iconic rock mount as Ariel.
Fans were sharing their quick emotions on social media, with one exclaiming: ‘I cant stop watching #TheLittleMermaid video and I choke up every time. My first favourite princess was Ariel. This film looks incredible.’
‘Thank you thank you my 7 year old self is very happy,’ posted another.
The Little Mermaid swims into cinemas on May 26.
