A British actor has reportedly been formally given the role of James Bond and is likely to sign the contract this week.
Since Daniel Craig announced his retirement from the franchise, there has been constant speculation about who may play 007, with Idris Elba and Happy Valley’s James Norton among those strongly tipped for the role.
However, the hunt appears to be ended, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who had previously been evasive about being the next James Bond, allegedly impressing the filmmakers.
It has been said that the Kick Ass actor, 33, has been formally picked as the new 007 by Aeon Productions, the company behind the flicks, and would accept the coveted position in the ‘coming days.’
According to a source, once the deal is completed, the next installment of the espionage flick will begin filming later this year.
They told The Sun: ‘Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back.

‘As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.’
In August, Aaron was asked about whether he had been approached for Bond and gave a cryptic answer, telling Esquire: ‘I just focus on the things I can have in my hands right now.
‘What’s in front of me right now.’
at 2022, he reportedly charmed producer Barbara Broccoli at a covert audition at Pinewood Studios, prompting his comments.

According to The Sun, employers were so impressed with his performance, he had already shot the classic rifle barrel sequence.
‘Bosses at the brand were really impressed with his unique blend of acting intensity and his impressive back catalogue of action films,’ a source told the publication.
Aaron married Sam Taylor-Johnson, 57, director of Fifty Shades of Grey, whom he met on the set of Nowhere Boy.
In 2022, the pair renewed their wedding vows to commemorate their 10th anniversary.
They also have two children together: Wylda Rae, 13, and Romy Hero, 12.
Aaron is also the stepfather to Angelica, 26, and Jessie, 18, both from Sam’s former marriage to Jay Jopling.
Aaron is most known for making his breakthrough in the 2008 comedy Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging, before impressing reviewers once again in 2009’s Nowhere Boy, which was based on John Lennon.
He has now added an amazing filmography to his resume, including Kick-Ass, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Outlaw King, Tenet, and Bullet Train.
