Keira Knightley appears to have ruled out a return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, just days after producer Jerry Bruckheimer intimated that Johnny Depp would reprise his role as Jack Sparrow.
While Keira, 37, has stated that she has no intentions to repeat her part as Elizabeth Swan, Jerry, 79, stated at the Oscars on Sunday that he would ‘love’ to see 59-year-old Johnny reprise his role as Jack.
When questioned about Elizabeth at the Boston Strangler premiere this week, Keira answered, ‘What about Elizabeth Swan?’
Suggesting she’d let the character go, Keira added to ET: ‘I mean, she sailed away so nicely. She sailed away in brilliant style.’
But when Jerry was asked if he could share any details about the long-rumoured sixth Pirates film at last week’s Academy Awards, he told the outlet: ‘We’re all working on it [the next Pirates film]. We’ll see how it comes out. We’re very excited, I think we’re gonna have a great screenplay when, and we’re getting close.’
When asked if Johnny would return, he said, ‘We’ll see. It would be fantastic. I can only say that I would love to have him in the film.’

It’s not the first time Jerry has stated his desire for Johnny to reprise his legendary role as Captain Jack Sparrow.
‘I would love to have him in the movie,’ he told The Hollywood Reporter in December. ‘He’s a friend and a terrific actor, and it’s unfortunate that our personal lives creep into everything we do.’
Jerry was alluding to Johnny’s contentious and widely publicised libel trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.
As the trial unfolded in front of millions, a Disney official said that Johnny was no longer a part of the series, citing writers’ desire for ‘fresh energy,’ and the actor himself stated that he had no desire to return.
Yet, it appears that choices have been reversed…
