Ant and Dec make a huge revelation this morning, but everyone instantly sees through their April Fools’ Day scam.
The team are infamous for their huge pranks on Saturday Night Takeaway, which frequently leave viewers in stitches with their shenanigans with one other and other prominent names.
Who can forget how many times they’ve mocked A-list celebrities, most notably targeting media mogul and former X Factor judge Simon Cowell.
On Monday, the duo tried to put the wool over everyone’s eyes by unveiling plans to ‘take a hiatus from their television commitments’ to kickstart their culinary careers’.
However, no one was convinced.
The fake announcement, which was shared on the duo’s joint social media pages, read: ‘The Geordie duo have been making waves in the food world since launching their smash hit digital series, Taste Mates, last year and have decided to explore this new opportunity fulltime.’

They teased fans with the prospect of a tie-in ‘tell-all recipe book’ and ‘pop-up restaurant’.
They wrote on X: ‘We’ve been stewing on this for a while but wanted you to hear it from us first…’
Ant McPartlin commented in the original prank announcement: ‘I believe that food has the power to bring people together and create cherished memories, that’s how my family feel when I make them beans on toast.’
He added: ‘I am excited to embark on this culinary journey with my sous chef, Dec.’
Dec Donnelly added: ‘The kitchen is my favourite place. I adore spending time cooking, I get to snack on the ingredients (mostly cheese) as I go.
‘Opening a restaurant has been a dream of ours for quite some time, and I am incredibly excited to finally see it come to fruition. I know that Ant will be a brilliant pot washer.’
Unfortunately for the duo and any admirers who were hoping for this to be a legitimate career move, many of their followers saw right through the April Fools’ Day message.
‘Guys you can’t tweet anything on April 1st, we’ll just ignore it😂,’ laughed @ifyouleaveniall, while fellow X user @HelenAPat replied: ‘Beans on Toast, and Cheese. Excellent meals. By the way … Happy April Fool’s Day 😆’
‘Enjoy April Fools day lads,’ tweeted fan @RussRobinson170, and there were many more fans seeing through the joke but wishing it was true, as @doctorinsulin begged: ‘I know it’s a joke but please make it real.’
‘@antanddec very Funny April Fools boys. I would be a different kind of cool to see new competition in the cooking world going up against @GordonRamsay,’ added @KirstyNoble98.
And @HilsdesM wrote: ‘If only this wasn’t an April Fool, I’d love to come to your Pop-up! Lol imagine how much security you’d need- thousands would descend on you! Love to you both XX (sic).’
Others were more cruel, with @jimmy_L_UFC tweeting: ‘Why do people continue to do April fools . Also this isn’t even funny which considering these two is pretty poor.’
And @prickettboy3 added: ‘Grow up guys. April Fools is for kids.’
Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway returns on Saturday at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
