BBC personalities such as Huw Edwards and Clive Myrie have received redundancy notices.
The broadcaster is aiming to cut costs and has urged several TV and radio broadcasters to consider voluntary redundancy.
In addition to Edwards and Myrie, Reeta Chakrabarti and Sophie Raworth are claimed to have received letters.
The BBC appears to be reorganising its news division and cutting expenses wherever feasible.
Changes made by the BBC last year were mentioned in a letter addressed by Philippa Busby, the BBC’s managing editor of news and current affairs.
Busby wrote, according to MailOnline: ‘As you will be aware, in 2022 we announced a number of changes across BBC News which have meant that some colleagues have been placed at risk of redundancy, including some colleagues in presenter roles.’

An unnamed newsroom source added: ‘The email is addressed to all senior news presenters and presenters on the band immediately below. Everyone got it on the same day.’
Another unnamed BBC journalist told MailOnline that the messages were ‘depressing’ and contributed to a “general atmosphere of chaos.”

Presenters are claimed to have been requested to register their interest by April 14, with the letter supposedly being sent out at the start of the month.
A BBC spokesperson said: ‘This isn’t about any new job cuts – it’s a standard HR exercise relating to savings we’ve announced previously – and it’s not targeting any individuals; we have to send it to everyone who’s at the same grade.
‘We’re looking for expressions of interest in redundancy, not offering it, and it’s not the case that any or everyone who came forward would be accepted.’
Presenters are claimed to have been requested to register their interest by April 14, and the letter was apparently sent out at the beginning of the month.
