Bruno Tonioli is expected to make a lot of money from his rumoured appearance on Britain’s Got Talent.
David Walliams, a 51-year-old comedian from Little Britain, reportedly left the programme last year when recordings of him making derogatory remarks about contestants at the London Palladium in 2020 auditions were made public.
It didn’t take long for speculation to begin about who would make the ideal judge.
The clear favourite was Alan Carr, star of Chatty Man, and it was thought that all that was needed for him to join the BGT family was to finalise his contract.
Although host Graham Norton declined the offer, it appears that viewers may see the Italian choreographer appear on the panel with Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell, and Alesha Dixon.
According to The Sun, Bruno has landed a massive £850,000 agreement to star in the show.
He was able to outbid favourite for the position Alan Carr, who is friendly with several members of the cast and crew, and twice his UK Strictly salary.
Although David’s replacement on the yearly ITV series has not yet been revealed, former co-star Craig Revel Horwood recently offered his opinion on the subject.
‘I would love to say he is, but I believe he is up against Alan Carr as well,’ he said.
‘I think they’re juggling and they [bosses] are going to save it as a surprise, so I in fact don’t know.’
Craig continued: ‘Bruno is very secretive with me, darling, he will never be honest with me or tell me the truth, so I really don’t know, but I’d love to see Bruno back on our screens and I think it’s a great position to have, so I wish him all the very best if he is in the running for it.’
With Bruno’s judging experience, the programme will unquestionably be in good hands. He served on the Strictly Come Dancing jury for 18 years before announcing his departure last year.
He has presided over all 31 seasons of Dancing With The Stars in the United States, where he is a frequent judge.
