Frankie Dettori, who is reported to be appearing on this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! has made its way to Australia.
The world-famous jockey, 52, confirmed his departure from Australia on social media and is expected to arrive in the early hours of Monday morning.
On Sunday, Frankie verified that he was going to board an aircraft from California to Melbourne.
He said: ‘Hi everyone, I am here in California at the moment. I will get on the plane after racing, I’m coming to Melbourne for the Melbourne Cup.’
Frankie went on: ‘Unfortunately, this year I’m suspended, so I can ride but I will support the Melbourne Cup carnival for the week, see some old friends riding and have a smashing time at the racing. Hopefully, we see some good winners, so make sure you come and see us.’
According to the Mirror, Frankie has been spotted in Australia this week.
According to the site, the athlete would spend the week performing promotional work for Melbourne’s horse racing tournament before flying to Brisbane to’meet up with ITV bosses and be holed up in isolation for a few days’.
Frankie hasn’t officially confirmed he’s signed up for I’m A Celebrity and ITV previously said: ‘Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity are just speculation.’
Rumours that Frankie would appear on the Ant and Dec-hosted programme began to circulate in September, when the Sun claimed that he was in ‘advanced discussions’ to join the cast.
A source told the outlet: ‘Frankie is a superstar signing for jungle casting producers as he is a legend in the horse racing world and would be reality TV gold.
‘He might be pint-sized, but his personality is larger than life and he has real charm and a sense of humour.
‘Frankie would be brilliant in the Bushtucker Trials too as being competitive is second nature to him. He’s got a wealth of stories he could tell around the campfire too to keep other campmates entertained.’
