The Masked Singer ended today, and it appears James Arthur was counting down the minutes after fans got convinced he was one of the candidates.
Many people thought the 34-year-old singer was the renowned face hidden under the Rhino mask throughout the season.
While there were few ties between the hints and the singer, seeing the voice shouting out the songs on stage was enough to convince many James had agreed to participate in the reality series.
When Rhino was eventually proclaimed the winner, it was discovered that he was Busted’s Charlie Simpson.
It was obviously a relief for James, who replied quickly.
👏🏻 @CharlieSimpson id know that voice anywhere. One of the best out there #maskedsinger now everyone piss off and leave me alone

‘Charlie Simpson I’d know that voice anywhere,’ he shared alongside an emoji of clapping hands.

‘One of the best out there #maskedsinger now everyone p*** off and leave me alone,’ he added.
Many people mentioned that they had a feeling it wasn’t him on the show, while others acknowledged they’d been completely duped by how similar his and Charlie’s voices sound.

The other two reveals in the final also surprised some, with former All Saints singer Nicole Appleton revealed as Fawn and Kaiser Chiefs front-man Ricky Wilson unmasked as Phoenix.
Charlie admitted he ‘never expected’ to win the show, joking that his biggest fear was forgetting his lyrics.
Speaking in a Q&A post-reveal, he said: ‘I never expected to win, to be honest, but I just wanted to give it my best. I had no idea who I was actually up against and didn’t really hear the other people sing as we were kept away from each other during filming.’
Charlie added: ‘I was very happy when Joel called my name. I have never been in a singing competition before so I found the whole thing quite surreal.’
The Masked Singer is streaming on ITVX.
