Jodie Foster will portray a cop in the frigid wilderness of Alaska in the upcoming season of True Detective, and we now have our first glimpse at her character.
Last year, it was revealed that Jodie, 60, will be playing the role of Liz Danvers in the crime drama.
Jodie began her career as a youngster in Freaky Friday and went on to have a great career in films, including Silence of the Lambs.
This will be her first regular TV role since 1974, when she appeared in Paper Moon.
An photograph of Jodie in the series has now been shared, with HBO posting the photo of Jodie with her co-star Kali Reis.
The caption said, ‘The darkness of the Arctic weighs heavily upon #NightCountry,’ and the shot showed them both geared up standing in a snowy landscape covered in darkness, peering out into the horizon.
Their police car’s lights are blazing on whatever has grabbed their curiosity in the background.
The season synopsis from last year said that the anthology series would follow Jodie as she investigates the mysterious disappearances of six people from an Alaskan research station.
‘When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace,’ the synopsis said.
‘To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunting truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.’
Jodie is also an executive producer for the forthcoming season, and Issa Lopez has authored the screenplays.
True Detective has covered new individuals and events in each season since its debut in 2014.
The first season starred Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, the second season starred Taylor Kitsch, Rachel McAdams, and Colin Farrell, and the third season starred Mahershala Ali.
True Detective currently streams on HBO Max in the US.
