The fans of Love Island couldn’t help but chuckle at Kai Fagan’s narrative about the moon, even if he may have thought he was providing Tanyel Revan with an enlightening account at the time.
The science and physical education teacher from Manchester became the focus of interest for three women during the first episode, and although viewers at home anticipated that he would be at the centre of a great deal of drama throughout the competition, he seems to have found a stable relationship with his partner, Tanyel, so far.
At the beginning of the episode that aired on Friday night, Kai, age 25, was having a private conversation with Tanyel, age 26, during which he proceeded to explain how they might overcome any thoughts of homesickness.
‘The moon right ok, England is in time with this [South Africa] ok, or it’s out by about two hours right?,’ he started.
‘So, when you look at the moon it is dark in England as well and there is only one moon so when you look at the moon at night-time it is the same moon they will be seeing at home.
‘So, if you ever get sad and you miss your family or anything just look outside and know if they look outside at the exact same time they will look outside and see the same moon as you, just a different side.’
Those who were there to see it couldn’t help but let out a giggle here and there, while others could be seen scratching their heads and attempting to make sense of what they had just heard.
Even if Love Island fans and Tanyel might not have been very enthralled by Kai’s discussion, we hope that he is still content while he is in the villa by staring out at the moon and thinking of his loved ones.
Before the programme began, Kai stated that he was “single by choice” and that he was “searching for the perfect female,” but he also cautioned that he had “high standards” when it comes to the search for a companion.
He said: ‘I don’t feel I should commit to someone unless I’m absolutely buzzing over them, because it’s not fair on them.’
Love Island continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
