Tom Clare, of Love Island, surprised audiences when he cheated on his ex-girlfriend Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown with Ellie Spence just hours afterwards.
The programme aired on Sunday night, and as a surprise ending, the blonde took Tom out to the terrace and they kissed for the first time.
Tom was overheard saying to the single female, “It’s our little secret” as he pulled away after giving her a kiss on the cheek.
Zara, the model and dancer, said before that she felt “ick” after her villa lover didn’t choose her looks as his favourite in a challenge.
The athlete ignored his spouse and went a bit too close to the other women in the house by describing his dream lady in terms of characteristics he saw in other contenders.
Fans saw the athlete was flirting with Olivia Hawkins and Ellie Spence, so they took to social media to criticise him, and he responded by posting many video diaries in which he discussed his growing disinterest in Zara.
Many viewers believed the model was left to deal with her feelings alone, despite her attempts to depend on her fellow female islanders for comfort.
One fan noted: ‘The way these lot are all siding with Olivia and making their disregard for Zara clear is crazy. They’re all going out of their way to justify what Tom said during the game [sic]’.
Another warned against the semi-pro footballer: ‘men like tom are very dangerous. he was sexually attracted to zara & just saw her as a body, and then the second she’s established a boundary hes no longer interested. he doesn’t want a woman with opinions. he wants a sex doll. [sic]’
‘In case we’ve not all clocked it….. Tom hates zara. The way he spoke to both Olivia and Ellie but didn’t say a word to zara. Him talking to her in the kitchen was just circumstance [sic],’ a Twitter user said.
They have had to overcome challenges in the form of bombs and unfinished business throughout the series.
After pulling Tom aside for a talk in the midst of Sunday’s programme, Zara called it quits and the heated couple went their own ways.
Fans rushed to social media to share their support for the beauty, writing: ‘let it be known that ZARA ended things with tom not the other way round he sat and contributed nothing to that convo [sic]’.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
