Roman Kemp will co-host the BBC’s new game show The Finish Line with former Blue Peter presenter Sarah Greene.
In each episode, five participants compete in a series of qualifications and head-to-head races for the chance to win the grand prize of $100,000.
The show is now being produced in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and the main goal is to beat your opponents to the finish line in a game where “knowledge equals speed” and “the more you know, the further you go,” according to the broadcaster.
So the goal of the game is simple: beat your opponents to the finish line.
‘I’m very happy to be presenting The Finish Line, coming to BBC One later this year,’ the 30-year-old said of his new gig. I’m a major fan of quiz shows, and since this is my first time hosting one, I’m incredibly excited to get started.
‘I like how it’s a brand-new concept based on a renowned horse-racing carnival game. The programme will be tough and surprising, and we are confident that fans will be captivated!’
‘This will be tremendous fun, and I am really looking forward to working with Roman on this new format,’ Sarah said.
‘It’s all about high-energy, high-drama racing and quickfire questions, and I’ll be bringing my A-game to ensure that Roman and the contestants are kept on the straight and narrow.’
Roman recently felt the heat as British promoter Eddie Hearn attacked him during a visit on his renowned radio show.
He began: ‘The difference between me and you is, I have something you don’t. Talent and ability. I think your dad knew somebody as Capital FM. And I think the conversation went something like this.
”Do you remember when I did all those favours for you, used to come on your show and sing live? Well, my son is pretty useless to be honest with you. And I don’t know what I’m going to do with him. You once said to me, if I ever need anything, I’m here for you.
‘”I need a favour. He’s got no talent, he’s got no ability, he’s got no prospects. IF you can just give him a job somewhere, cleaning, running coffee, anything”. And the guy said to him, “I promised you a big favour. I’m gonna put him in front of the mic.” And here you are, Roman Kemp today.’
Ouch!
The Finish Line premieres on BBC One later this year.
