Never worry, Stranger Things fans who are heartbroken over the show’s finale!
Yes, you can still satisfy your Netflix addiction since the popular programme is getting its own animated series.
After season 5, Stranger Things as we know it will end, but Netflix has already given the go-ahead for an unnamed animated series with Flying Bark Productions and Eric Robles serving as executive producer.
The series’ creators, Matt and Ross Duffer (also known as The Duffer Brothers), expressed their joy after Deadline revealed the news.
‘We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realised has been absolutely thrilling,’ they said in a statement.
Offering a hint of what’s to come, the duo added: ‘We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with.
‘The scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you!’
‘The adventure continues,’ they teased.
Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and Noah Schnapp starred in the 2016 television series Stranger Things.
Following citizens of the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana as they encounter paranormal happenings and an other realm known as the Upside Down, the series immediately became a hit and catapulted a number of young talents to international recognition.
One cast member who went on to achieve actual success is Millie, who is now 19 years old, has been in films like Enola Holmes and is set to publish her first book.
She recently disclosed that she will stop watching Stranger Things after the fifth and final season, though.
Millie has stated that she is prepared to hang up Eleven/Jane Hopper’s shoes and will apparently not be engaged in any next projects, despite The Duffer Brothers’ ambitions for multiple spin-offs.
We won’t likely hear the British actress’ voice in the animations since, according to The Sun, she has previously turned down a $10 million offer to appear in a Stranger Things movie.
A source said: ‘There are so many directions it could go. Nothing is off the table.
‘They think it would translate to a stage show for Broadway and the West End just like Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
‘Another spin-off series following some of the show’s main characters is also being worked up.’
Speaking back in March, Millie admitted that she was ‘definitely ready to wrap up’ Stranger Things in an interview with Seventeen.
She explained: ‘I feel like there’s a lot of the story that’s been told now, and we know of it, it’s been in our lives for a very long time.
‘But I’m very ready to say goodbye to this chapter of my life and open new ones up.’
