After inviting Boy George and Sir Rod Stewart on for an interview, The One Show quickly devolved into mayhem.
The two renowned artists spoke about their careers and intentions to perform together on the BBC evening programme, which airs before the watershed.
Sir Rod grew irritated when the subject turned to the renowned Beyoncé, who makes nine clothing changes every concert – ‘and I get blamed for it.’
He changes his costumes because ‘I want to amuse,’ he says, adding that his detractors accuse him of ‘going off to have a break’ while on stage.
‘No! I’m sweating me b*****s off!’
The studio erupted into laughter, with host Roman Kemp immediately saying he was ‘sorry for any language there, very very bad language.’
Boy George, laughing, interjected: ‘It wasn’t me this time, which is amazing.’
They went on to talk about Sir Rod’s newest grandson, with Sir Rod mishearing and assuming he was being congratulated for becoming a parent for the second time.
‘Not a father again,’ he said, before adding cheekily: ‘My banana’s back in the fruit box.’
This prompted Roman to apologise once more and repeat that this was ‘a family programme.’
The utterly chaotic portion was a tremendous success with viewers, who were in stitches due to the harsh interjections.
‘The child in me always giggles when a guest slips in a naughty word,’ one viewer wrote on Twitter. ‘No offence taken here!!’
Another begged: ‘Please please PLEASE@BBCTheOneShow can we have @BoyGeorge and @rodstewart back on every day!! Absolutely hilarious TV!!!’
The two performers will go on tour together this summer, with Boy George and the Culture Club joining Sir Rod.
The artist said he was happy that his ‘close buddy’ Boy George will be joining him for the UK performances, which begin on June 24 at Home Park Stadium in Plymouth.
He said while announcing the special guests: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled to be sharing the stage with my dear old friend, Boy George. Let’s misbehave!’
They’re already doing it, as Wednesday night’s episode of The One Show demonstrated.
The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
