Season two of Traitors US has only just begun, yet it has already surpassed Peacock‘s records.
Alan Cumming hosts the tournament, in which a group of celebrities make themselves at home in a castle in Scotland, attempting to determine which among them is a Traitor in the hopes of winning up to $250,000.
In contrast to the Emmy-winning first season, the cast consists entirely of celebrities, politicians, and reality TV stars, like Phaedra Park from Real Housewives, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu from Love Island, and boxer Deontay Wilder.
Despite only airing on Peacock on January 12, Variety says that the second season is now the most-watched reality series on the channel.
It is claimed to be increased by more than 75% from last year, when Traitor Cirie Fields won the reward after convincing her co-stars that she was a Faithful.
According to the source, Traitors US has already outperformed Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip, Love Island USA, and the Love Island Games spinoff.
The first set of episodes premiered last week, leaving viewers on edge as Traitor Parvati Shallow debated who of the Faithfuls should drink from her poisoned chalice and be secretly assassinated.
Things are about to become much hotter for the gang as it was revealed that Kate Chastain will be returning to the castle for a second chance at the game.
The Below Deck icon notably appeared in the first series and begged to be taken home since she was fed up with convincing everyone she was a Faithful.
Discussing what led to her comeback, she told People Magazine: ‘What makes my return to The Traitors so exciting is that no one saw it coming … myself included!
‘I was willing to give it another go because I knew the cast this year was stacked with so many big, fun personalities.
‘And let’s face it: when Alan Cumming invites you back to his castle, you go!’
Kate’s comeback may surprise viewers, given she previously stated that the competition ‘broke’ her on her first try.
She told Vulture of her efforts: ‘I thought most of these people have never been in a situation where they’ve just had their communication with the world cut off,’ she said. ‘I was like, “Oh, I’ve done this. This is not going to break me.”
‘I think the challenges broke me. The accusations broke me. The lack of access to my phone and the lack of access to a nice cold martini.
‘Because everybody was always going after me, I felt like I had no control over my existence in this game.
‘So, really, I wanted to reclaim that control by making it a “You can’t fire me, I quit” deal. If they get rid of me, which they’re all trying to, if I say that’s what I want, then maybe I still win. Still get my way.’
Bring on more Kate in the castle!
The Traitors US streams on Peacock on Thursdays.
