Rylan Clark triumphantly returned to This Morning to brighten our Monday morning, and fans are already clamouring for more.
The popular host hasn’t been on the famed blue sofa in that position in 14 months, but he was back in action on the ITV daytime programme with Josie Gibson to kick off the week.
Although he has appeared as a guest recently, he last presented the show alongside close friend Ruth Langsford in the summer of 2022 before taking a break.
He has now returned after the series’ two main hosts, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, left.
‘A big, big, big welcome to you Rylan, welcome back,’ Josie said at the beginning of the episode as Rylan joked he’s simply been ‘hiding’ in the studio.
‘It’s so nice to see everyone! I mean, I didn’t really go anywhere, I was just hiding in the cupboard. Just downstairs,’ he quipped.
He also provided an update on his mother. Linda, 71, was sent to a hospital in Spain after collapsing and breaking her arm and leg.
‘Mum is good, she’s really really good. Thank you for all your messages. She’s really really good, she’s watching today, hello Linda,’ he smiled.
‘She’s hobbling about in her little leg brace, she went to the post office, she’s doing alright… She’s been really good and I know she’s watching today!’
Rylan’s comeback comes at a difficult moment for This Morning, after Phillip, 61, left in May after admitting to a ‘unwise but not criminal’ romance with a younger staffer, and Holly, 42, also left earlier this month.
It has left the programme with two presenting spots to fill, and Rylan’s participation on Monday has put him firmly at the top of viewers’ lists to fill one of them.
‘Let’s keep Rylan as a full time presenter #ThisMorning,’ wrote one fan, while another urged: ‘Make sure you keep him at all costs!’
