The arrival of Ahsoka on Disney Plus heralds the start of an exciting new chapter in the Star Wars world, as the heroine played by Rosario Dawson leads her own action-packed series.
However, the protagonist’s biography predates this collection of eight episodes, with her journey beginning when she was a young adolescent eager to learn the ways of the Jedi.
So, in what sequence should you watch the earlier Star Wars releases starring Ahsoka before she got her own spin-off show?

When did Ahsoka make her first appearance?
Ahsoka was developed by George Lucas and Dave Filoni and first appeared in the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars in 2008.
The goal was to bridge the gap between Hayden Christensen’s representations of Anakin Skywalker in the 2002 and 2005 live-action films Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, when he progressively succumbed to the evil side of the Force.
So Ahsoka appeared, becoming Anakin’s Jedi Master’s Padawan.
Ahsoka, who was given the nickname ‘Snips’ by Anakin, was voiced by Ashley Eckstein, who also played the character in the anime series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the programme Star Wars: Rebels.
Ashley also had a brief appearance in the 2019 live-action film The Rise of Skywalker, voicing Ahsoka when Rey (Daisy Ridley) heard the voices of Jedi from the past speaking to her, informing her that they’re all behind her in her struggle against the wicked Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid).
It would take a long time to catch up on all of Ahsoka’s animated appearances… Despite the fact that The Clone Wars movie is nearly an hour and a half long, the animated programme has 133 episodes in total, with Rebels having 75 as well.

When did Rosario make her debut as Ahsoka?
While Ahsoka has been around for 15 years, Rosario first appeared as the character in the second season of The Mandalorian in 2020, opposite Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin.
Din assisted Ahsoka in defeating the wicked city magistrate Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto), while Ahsoka revealed to Mando that the name of the Child in his care (otherwise known as Baby Yoda) was Grogu after connecting with him via the Force.
Ahsoka informed Din that she would be unable to take Grogu with her to teach in the ways of the Force, and by the conclusion of the season, the Child had been abducted by Jedi legend Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).
Din went to meet Grogu when Ahsoka was still training with Luke in The Book of Boba Fett.
She even interacted with the de-aged Luke, something many Star Wars fans found interesting given her relationship with the Jedi’s father.
Where does Ahsoka fall in the Star Wars timeline?
To understand where Ahsoka fits into the Star Wars timeline, it’s necessary to first examine the chronological order of preceding releases.
The Mandalorian’s first season was set five years after the events of the 1983 film Return of the Jedi, the last installment of the original trilogy, which saw Anakin revert back to his prior self before his death, following Darth Vader’s defeat.
Ahsoka is set around the same time as The Mandalorian’s third season, thus a few years have passed.
The New Republic has been created in the aftermath of the Empire’s defeat, but malignant Imperial troops remain a danger in the galaxy’s dark corners… Especially with Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) in the picture.
