Kelsey Grammer has stated that he would not apologise for his religious convictions, claiming that Jesus has had a huge impact on his life.
The 68-year-old actor is most known for his roles as Dr. Frasier Crane in Cheers and its later spin-off Frasier, as well as Sideshow Bob in The Simpsons.
His most recent film, Jesus Revolution, is based on the actual tale of a youth preacher in 1970s America and is based on a book of the same name.
Grammer will play real-life preacher Chuck Smith, who eventually formed his own Christian organisation with over 1,000 congregations worldwide.
In an interview before to the film’s premiere last month, Grammer stated that he would no longer be apologising for his beliefs.
‘Jesus made a difference in my life,’ he told USA Today. I’m not going to apologise for it. My religion and Jesus have brought me enormous serenity.’
‘It’s really uplifting. It’s a good movie. My wife and I saw it together. She was just dissolved in tears and said, “It’s the best thing you’ve ever done.”‘
While not a critical success, Jesus Revolution has already made $20.5 million (£17 million) in the United States, indicating that viewers are drawn in by the tale.
Babe Neuwirth, who played Lilith on the show, joined the impending reunion for Grammer and the rest of the Frasier ensemble earlier this month.
Nicolas Lyndhurst has also joined the cast, with the first table read for the debut episode, The Good Father, now completed.
