According to reports, Madonna’s forthcoming biopic has been postponed at Universal.
For the last two years, the Hung Up singer has been teasing a story about her life, and she took over the project last year, stating that she will be directing it herself.
Ozark symbol Julia Garner was rumoured to play the music legend, but no cast has been announced.
Variety claims that the biopic has been stalled as the 64-year-old prepares for her massive world tour, which begins in July of this year.
It’s unclear what will happen to the project, but an insider informed Metro.co.uk that fans may still see it in the future.
‘Madonna is focusing on her show at the moment and plans on making a film about her life still,’ they explained.
The Queen of Pop first confirmed that the biopic was being developed by Universal in 2020, penning in a press release: ‘I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer [and] a human being, trying to make her way in this world.’
‘The focus of this film will always be music.’
During a Q&A session in July, she was asked what inspired her to start working on the project.

‘I’ve had an extraordinary life, I must make an extraordinary film,’ she replied. ‘It was also a preemptive strike because a lot of people were trying to make movies about me. Mostly misogynistic men.
‘So I put my foot in the door and said, “No one’s going to tell my story, but me.”’
‘I have a very long script that is really hard for me to make shorter,’ she added to Variety at the time.
‘I’ve been whittling away at it, but it’s like hacking off my limbs.’
Although the film is presently on hold, Madonna will be embarking on the Celebration Tour to highlight her extraordinary 40-year career thus far.
It begins on July 15 in Vancouver, Canada and will travel to cities around the United States and Canada, as well as the United Kingdom and Europe, before concluding in December.
